If you know me or follow me on any social network then I am sure that you’ve read that I had hypertension. High blood pressure is no joke and it was the biggest reason for my new journey to weight loss. Before I just wanted to be smaller, and look better- and those are still my goals, but the picture is bigger than looks. It really is about my health.

My family has a string of health issues and I don’t need the extra weight factoring in on any of these hereditary problems. Although this journey is tough, I am relentless. I don’t always eat a salad, because in real life, I don’t always eat a salad. I am however being more accountable for my own actions. No one makes me eat the way I do or make the decisions I choose.

I am learning that I have to be proactive. I have to stay focused and realize that my health didn’t get this way overnight, nor will it change over night. Creating a network of people who have similar goals is also important. It’s great that my friends are working out as well. Or just deciding to drink more water instead of sweet tea.

Wish me luck. If you are on a healthy lifestyle journey, please share your secrets and helpful tips!
