Recently I had the pleasure of attending a listening party at Bar One for Atlanta’s Newest Musical Debutantes- Bliss. Bliss is a girl group hoping to pick up the torch where other successful girl groups such as Destiny’s Child and TLC, have left off and personally I think they have a shot! The group consists of Alexis “Lex” Branch, Falicia “Cali” White, and Taryn Moody. The girls have already graced the stages of BET’s 106 & Park and Blaze The Stage, Bronner Bros. International Hair Show, as well as numerous events produced by V-103.
After listening to various tracks from the upcoming CD, on sale Tuesday, February 14, 2012- I admit that I was impressed and found myself wanting to hum along. The CD is a mixture of upbeats and slow jams, all covered by some great vocals. On top of that they seemed sweet and mature enough, yet about their business. These girls are hungry for success.
I was able to sit down with the girls and ask a few questions:
How did you girls get started? Lex: Well I started in my Hometown of VA, moved down here and met Cali, and we later met and added Taryn to the group.
Being in a girl group, stereotypes say that you all should have girl fights. Do you girl’s fights at all?
Taryn: Noooo! We are way to bubbly for that. And when we don’t agree, we are mature enough to sit down and discuss it like adults.
Who inspired your music career? Cali- Brandy, Tank, Aaliyah, Aretha Franklin, and I rap so Drake, Lil Wayne.
Lex- my father (the groups manager), he was in the business.
What’s something you want all your current and future fans to know? We are about to take over! *girls giggle* We are very appreciative of the fans being with us on this ride. We are dedicated to this, there is no other girl group out there, it was made for us, and we hope they stick with us!
