While celebrities are out and about promoting fashion shows, rap beef, giving public lashings over vodka and a whole plethora of unimportant things, there are a few that take the time out to do something to give back. Whether it be children or charity, many are making a difference in the lives of those that are our future. Actor Taye Diggs is one of those who is giving back in a positive way.
Diggs has just recently released a children’s book titled “Chocolate Me!” to help teach our country’s young’ns about their diversity and to embrace everything that they’ve got– especially if it’s a different skin color. The “Private Practice” star took some time out to read it with some kiddos and talk about his inspiration in writing the colorful book.
“I lived in a neighborhood where nobody else looked like me. My mother took me aside and basically told me to embrace my differences. Now that I have a child, it makes things like this even more rich, it’s been an amazing journey.”
The 40 year old actor and new father to a multi-racial baby wrote the book along with one of his childhood buddies Shane Evans) who actually illustrated the book, including its bright and happy cover. Such a great message!
