How great were the days when it was acceptable to be an individual as far as thoughts and style were concerned. That was one thing that stood out to me with the cast of A Different World. They were all completely different. Different backgrounds, believes, styles and goals- yet they all found common ground, accepted each other and got along, (for the most part).

This morning I find myself missing the days of old. A time where our differences didn’t separate us, or make us frown upon each other. It was called being an individual, and you changed your style or beliefs because you were ready not because it was the thing to do.
Hold on to you individuality. Realize if you haven’t already that your hair doesn’t have to be the color of Rihanna’s, or the length of Beyonce’s. You can wear a designer other than Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahniks. Be the person who sets the trends, not the one who follows them. Those are the ones who are remembered the most.

You are so right–I believe that shows like ‘A Different World’ and others airing in that time helped to mold our generation and encourage uniqueness and individualism. Now everything’s the same and no one really knows how to blaze their own trail, instead following whatever trends are being dictated by corporations and celebrities. I miss “way back then” as well.
Exactly! Kids don’t know how to be leaders, set the tone and be okay with the fact that everyone doesn’t like it! Its okay, u know!
