If you guys follow me on twitter then you know, I am a fan of The Extreme Makeover, Weight Loss Edition. The contestants were selected from all over the country to participate in a year long transformation of the body. I love that you see them cheating on their diets, and slacking off on their workouts, because that is reality, but slowly finding their way and shedding the pounds.

LaRhonda Darby, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was 433 pounds when her mother died of diabetes. She know that she had to turn to God for help and as well as to ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition.

With the help of personal trainer Chris Powell, she was able to lose 202 pounds in a year. The show chronicled Miss Darby’s struggle to lose weight and her extreme highs and lows as she embarked on a rigorous diet and exercise regime.

‘I’m in a good place right now. I want to do another triathlon. I want to travel the world. Planes and stairs are not an issue. I want to do things I always wanted to do.’

When she was at her largest, she couldn’t do even the simplest of tasks like drive her car or even sit at the dinner table with the rest of the family.

The 26-year-old said even now she struggles to watch the footage from when she was at her largest.

She said: ‘It’s not about me. It’s hard to see that footage but it’s about helping someone else. If it’s going to help anybody do something better then so be it.

‘My mom’s death was the real turning point, I just thought enough is enough. How bad do you want it to be? We all have a choice. where you wanna go is up to us.’
