We usually see a variety of news stories on various media outlets- but this one took the cake today! It always amazes me just how creative some people can be.
When I watch people and their Do It Yourself projects, I am truly amazed.
Check out this story I found on Yahoo today!
A Michigan woman’s toilet paper creation earned her top honors in the Seventh Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest.
Susan Brennan of Orchard Lake, Mich., was one of five contestants vying to become the grand prize winner Thursday at Boca Raton Bridal in Florida.
The competition judges the best bridal dresses made out of toilet paper. Dresses are judged on creativity, originality, beauty and use of toilet paper.
Brennan says her dress was inspired by nature. The dress was created with four rolls of toilet paper, hot glue and packing tape.
2011′s Third place winner: Cynthia Richards
Cynthia Richards of Marietta, GA, loaded up on 20 rolls of toilet paper to create her blossoming backside poof, and dramatic train. She kept it all together with the help of some Duct Tape, and a trio of glues.
Serving as her tailor’s apprentice was 8-year-old daughter Rainey. That $250 prize money Richards is getting? Rainey needs a cut.
2011′s Second place winner: Laura Lee
Runner up for this year’s ‘Project TP’ is Laura Lee of Milpitas, CA. She landed $500 for her billowing floor-length design made from 5 rolls of one-ply toilet paper, some transparent duct tape, spray adhesive to keep the whole thing together and white first aid tape for the tendrils dangling from her TP fascinator. Eat your heart out, Kate Middleton.
This year’s winner: Susan Brennan
Susan Brennan of Orchard Lake, MI, took four rolls of toilet paper and created a gown fit for walking down the aisle or at least winning a contest. She used packing tape and hot glue to shape the form fitting tissue-fabric and accent the look with feathers and flowers. All told, it took her a week to create (and probably 3 seconds to rip off.)
And a look at the previous winners! These women are ultra creative!
2010′s winner: Galit Zeierman
Zeierman’s creation, made direct from her hometown of Ramat Gan, Isreal, offered a playful, modern take on the traditional gown. Short, punky and held up by a single strap, she even used rolled strips of toilet paper to fasten the bodice. The best detail, though, is the toilet paper bird in her hair.
2009′s winner: Ann Kawaga Lee
Lee, of Hawaii, was inspired by “Gone with the Wind” when she created this embellished strapless gown, complete with a TP bow in the back.
Here’s a closer look at Ann’s hat
All you need is some squares of TP, tape and glue to make this. It also helps to be born with the hands of Michelangelo.
