Saturday Atlantic Station’s usual crowd was doubled for the anticipation of  Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race TV Show. Filming for its second season, this time eight teams have embarked on the ultimate coast-to-coast food truck race. Each week, the trucks drive to a new city where they are prepping, promoting, and selling their dishes to make money by any means necessary… Why? Because the person who makes the least goes home.

Their skills are tested because they face all sort of personal challenges, as well as problems in the kitchen, meeting the weekly challenges of each city- like the weather and cranky customers. But like all great businessed  they have to use their business smarts and make it happen.

There were a couple of trucks in the city and I was able to catch up with HodgePodge from Cleveland. Their specialty is midwestern comfort food, and it seemed as if everyone was convinced as the line for food grew longer and longer throughout the day!

I couldn’t resist the King Crab Dip because crab is my favorite. The consistency of the crab was like a lightly sauced chicken salad— and it wasn’t at all cheesy or warm, which is usually how I’ve had crab dip. . Instead it was filled with huge chunks of crab and so delicious!!!! Seriously, it had great flavor and you could tell it was fresh, but not at all fishy. I was absolutely impressed and I am going to say here on record it was the best crab dip I’ve tasted to date.

Even Atlanta Mayor, Kasim Reed made time to stop in for a tasty meal. I heard the ribeye tacos were amazing… Check a clip of the Mayor and Chef Chris below, provided by Atlantic Station.  Tune in August 14, for Season 2, I know I will!
