It’s Day 2, and I am well rested,  the sick are now well (motion sickness affected one), I’ve eaten, and I am ready to see what this trip has in store. We hit the deck to check out our surroundings and waited on instructions to depart the ship in Freeport, Bahamas.

This (natural) straight hair is on its last leg.

The first shopping market we made it to, after being fascinated with the wrong side of the street driving.

101_6555

Each vendor practically begged you to “Come inside pretty lady.. Find something you like”….

101_6548

I’m impressed with the talent. One vendor told me they actually have patterns for the characters on each bag or fan, but she was able to do it without a pattern.

The duty free stores were full of name brand perfumes…

Approaching the beach…

Beach security was friendly, but he didn’t seem like a guy you’d want to test…

I meant to ask what the price of the braids were.

We took a 45 minute boat tour of Millionaire’s Row, and this is our tour guide- a native of Freeport.

101_6745

Our transportation. Scary huh?… Don’t worry, I swim like a mermaid.

101_6622

This is the boat and location of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, starring Johnny Depp.

101_6633

The police warned our tour guide to go slower when we were close to the private properties.

101_6660

The lots of land on Millionaire’s row started at $350,000. Not the house, but the land.

Everyone had a yacht, and one came in a package with the timeshare properties.

101_6671

I was too slow to actually catch a dolphin on camera, but we did see a few.

Back on land, we decided it was time to get a bite to eat.

101_6760

Good to see a Subway, but we wanted something a little more authentic.

We stopped at this restaurant.

What’s the most talked about treat of the Bahamas?. Conch Fritters.

The conch fritters were, let’s see… The batter had a spicy hush puppy taste and the conch had a calamari feel.

I can’t find my notes on this native but he told me he’d been carving for 30 years. Such a talent. I hope all of the craftsman and women are passing these talents to their children. Not just here but everywhere.

A long trip (20 minutes) to the ship, but we were beat (mostly by the sun), we headed back. Rested, and prepared for dinner.

lobster tail

Lobster tails and tiger shrimp. I had two.
