–African-American Cinema Gallery (AACG) exhibit – Saturdays, noon-6:00pm, Upper Exchange – AACG is an inspirational tribute to Black actors, actresses and authors whose creativity has inspired the nation throughout history. Come experience this touring multimedia presentation of one-of-a-kind items – essays, posters, screenplays, children’s collectibles, rare photos, African American films and much more!

–Black in Film: A Series of Conversations and a Showcase of Historical Lineage in Cinema – Saturdays, 1:00pm, ACVB Theater – Presented by the African American Cinema Gallery and the Peachtree Village International Film Festival, this series takes attendees on a moving journey along a path of success stories and triumphs of African American cinema artists. A Q&A session by a panel composed of cinema experts will follow each screening:

o Saturday, February 19 – Harlem Nights

–Creativity Contest – Daily, submit entries at Information Booth – Can you paint, draw or color? Enter Underground Atlanta’s Black History Month Creativity Contest and have your art displayed throughout the month of February. Congrats to last year’s contest winner Jazmia Henry, whose artwork, entitled “U.N.I.T.Y.,” was inspired from the early 90’s hip-hop hit from Queen Latifah. Contest is open to youth ages sixteen and under.
–Guess Who? – Daily, Information Booth – Test your Black History and name all of the pictured influential African Americans at Underground Atlanta for a chance to win free gifts, coupons and other exciting giveaways.
–History 101 – Fridays and Saturdays, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm; Sundays, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, Information Booth – Learn about influential African Americans in history and get a glimpse of Atlanta and Underground Atlanta’s past, present and future on a special version of Underground Atlanta’s guided history tour, “From Civil War to Civil Rights.” Tickets are available for $6 per person.

–Identify Yourself workshop – Saturday, February 26, noon-7:00pm, Upper Exchange-Gallery – Award-winning illustrator and three-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Honor Award, R. Gregory Christie, will conduct a workshop based on the book, Bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, first African-American Deputy for U.S. Marshal. Open to all ages.
–Lights. Camera. Action. – Daily, ongoing, Lower Alabama/Lower Pryor Stage – Enjoy live entertainment as Atlanta’s talented community sets the stage at Underground Atlanta with performances inspired by Black History Month.
