Yes I do mind…

theatre seat

Being a professional movie watcher (self proclaimed), I have a ritual, a routine, a section and center seats that I like to sit in while I’m in a theater. I don’t like to wait, so I order online. I like popcorn so I make sure I have enough time to butter it up. I want to be in the middle of the screen, so I am among the first.

I make all of those preparations as I do for any event, whether large or small, so I am able to be as comfortable as possible, on time, and calm and collected. (We all know that when you’re running late- you tend to be a little frazzled).

Lets fast forward… I have chosen my seat according to the seats that are filled and what is available in the middle of the aisle. I am nestled, my phone is on silent, and the lights have gone down.

“Excuse me, could you move down one?”… What in the Sam hill?… No, I absolutely cannot. First I’m giving you a blank stare for even talking to me and the lights have dimmed indicating the movie, or previews are about to start.

Should I have to move because you and your boyfriend, daughter, friend or cousins were late? There are single seats everywhere, and the people who were serious about sitting with their party were here in a timely manner as well. But you want me, to hold my purse (yes depends on which one I have, it may be holding down a seat of its own), to get up move my drink and popcorn, and sit next to the person whom I purposely left an empty seat between, because you were late.

I don’t think the manager should be able to ask me to move either. I choose this seat ma’am. They can separate- I’ve split from my party before, so can they. And the awesome thing is that people have the nerve to have an attitude when I say, no, I can’t scoot down, and return my eyes towards the screen.

I wonder do they always move, or are they always late inconveniencing everyone else? Even better, do they let over every car that puts on a turning signal? I doubt it.  #imjustsaying
