The 15th installment of Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash took place this weekend in Atlanta at Philips Arena. The arena quickly filled with colorful characters young and old, all anticipating the performances of the hottest local and some legendary artists in the industry. First up was Monica, who pleased her faithful fans with a few oldies but goodies and belted out her newest single “Love All over Me”. As the night progressed and the music seemed to grow louder I put in my foam earplugs and I was still able to hear all the crowd screams and lyrical fill ins during everyone’s favorite part of each song (You can tell because the artist would point the mic towards the crowd to signal, our turn to rhyme). Rick Ross graced the stage in a silver nylon-ish jacket, while Plies entered stage right in a bathrobe. In between acts local radio personalities including Ricky Smiley and Emperor Searcy kept the audience entertained like commercial breaks along with video recaps from previous birthday bash celebrations.

The always charismatic and handsome Ludacris hit the stage and he too, pleased the patrons with favorites like “What’s Your Fantasy”, and “Hoe”. When Luda went into his more recent billboard chart topper “My Chick Bad”, Diamond and Trina both hit the stage to recite their verses. Other performances included the Legendary Luke, and a few noteworthy Luke Dancers, Gucci Mane, Wacka Flocka, Lil Scrappy and Roscoe Dash. MTV’s Sway and Atlanta’s own Ciara gave an inspiring talk about safe sex, the use of condoms and getting tested. Ciara also performed her track “Ride” with the help of Luda, a full length mink, and a pair of thigh high boots. The night was long but to say the least, very entertaining. I sometimes found myself watching the crowd and behavior of people when various artists hit the stage, the way the girls dance (which is a totally different blog), and the interaction between the young men and women. As always my phone died, and I wasn’t able to take any pictures, but the young lady in front of me was kind enough to send me hers. Thank you so much Taylor Lee for the majority of my pics making this post possible!
