I had the pleasure of meeting some fabulous women last night at the newly opened Plush Boutique for Chastity Garner’s The Curvy Girl’s Guide to Style Book Signing. The owner of Plush, Wendy Brown opened her doors last evening to not only showcase her boutique, but also to allow former model and new author, Chastity Garner, of Garner Style to host her book signing.

Chastity has used her personal styling knowledge and her experience as a plus size model to create a guide to style for the curvy woman. In her book she explores knowing your body, and what accentuates you. The minimizing bra, shopping expectations, and employing your deodorant (ladies you already know ;-*). As Chastity signed my book, I asked her for three essential pieces for every woman’s wardrobe and this is what she said:

The Little Black Dress and the Wrap Dress, both allow you to go from day to night, and the wrap dress for you jetsetters. Her third must have is leggings. When hemlines aren’t long enough, or if you have any issues with your legs, the leggings keep you concealed and stylish. Chastity also mentioned that the plus sized girls of today have more options than she did. She was a tomb boy in high school and has watched as the plus presence has grown in the last six to seven years.

Plush is located in the Historic Castleberry Hill area of Atlanta with a pretty purple theme throughout the store. The store caters to plus sized women from size 12 to 24. You can find jewelry, shoes, swimsuits, purses, and some amazingly stylish garments here. Wendy told me that she looks for quality as well as style when selecting items for her store. “Monif C. is one who you can just see the love put into all of the pieces she makes,” Wendy said… Plush also carries Igigi, Kiyonna, and a local designer Jibri. With the decline of plus size fashions being available in the department stores, we discussed the importance of women of all sizes being able to try on a garment, feel it, see how it works with your undergarments.

Plush Purple Plus (my nickname for the hip boutique) has jewelry as low $6.00, T-shirts as low as $15.00 and beautiful dresses up to $340.00. Wendy is very knowledgeable of the designers and the styles in her store. All of the ladies tonight had wonderful personalities and were great sources of information to any curvy girl.
