Happy Birthday Chloe Chanel..

When I first got my little Chloe she was only six weeks old and so scary. I didn’t have a crate for about the first week so I made her home in my bathroom. She would ball up between the sink and the toilet and almost run crawl behind it when I tried to pick her up.

She was only 4lbs at her first vet appointment and two weeks shy of her first birthday she weighed 40lbs. Mama, as I often call her grew on me in a way I didn’t think possible.

I mean sure, I would love her, but I’ve watched Marley and Me at least five times, and I continue to cry. She whimpers when I leave her, and she rejoices when I return. When I wrap up in my blanket to watch my favorite shows from the sofa, she will fall asleep pressed against my legs. When I sit at my computer in a tall chair- she sits underneath it until I’m done.

I look forward to her mannerisms and her facial expressions. Like when I sing with a brush as my microphone, to a song blaring through my ipod docking station. The way she tilts her head as to say, “You are not hitting those notes.” Or when she hears any bag rustle in the kitchen she comes running around the corner, with the expectation of a receiving a treat.

It’s been a year, and Chloe has been the most constant thing in my daily life. I love that little pup- as many people continue to remind me that she is just a dog.  We had a birthday party for her and her siblings (whom all live in the same neighborhood, but at different homes) complete with birthday hats and ice cream. We took pictures and shared what a joy these dogs have been for us over the last year.

I love Miss Chloe Chanel Turner… 03/07/2009… Happy Birthday Mama!
