6 ft under

Last night my dinner was served by a friendly waiter at Six Feet Under, across from the Historic Oakland Cemetery. It was a friend’s surprise birthday party, and really any reason to eat- is good enough for me.

We had a great time listening to stories that took place between the guest of honor and his various cohorts. Our food was timely and tasty.

We had fried calamari served with zucchini, jalapenos, and a homemade horseradish-dill sauce. I ordered the crab cakes that came with 4 as an appetizer. I have to say I enjoy the cakes at Ruby Tuesday’s better, but these were good. The cakes sautéed as opposed to the lightly breaded ones at Tuesday’s, and the “lump” can be a little misleading.

I also shared a plate of fried catfish, hushpuppies and fries (substituted the coleslaw), and I thought I would burst. The calamari is a huge serving and I believe that each of these dishes cost abt ten to twelve dollars.

It was a nice experience. Check them out. Last time I was there, I sat on the roof. Sorry for the poor pics, cellphone!
