too little clothes

What’s this I’m hearing about different clothing lines ditching their plus sizes? I’m just at a lost for words, if I can be honest. My mind is racing as I mull over the different articles I’ve read and their judgmental undertone as fat people are once again being discriminated against, and everyone just stands by.

“Filene’s Basements, will not get additional clothing sized 16 and above, until sometime in October,” from an article written in June. Another starts with “Here’s some more motivation to lose those extra pounds — recession-stung retailers are dropping plus-size clothing from their collections because it’s too costly to produce.” But one article insists that “Ann Taylor and Old Navy will stop selling plus-size clothes in its stores to offer those clothes only online.” WTF?

Another article opened up with statistics from the CDC and the percentage of overweight women in the country. If this is about health- then why hasn’t the sell of cigarettes been banned? Why do they sell alcohol? Why isn’t it illegal?

Is this world really coming to not accommodating large women? My friends and I have this conversation all the time. Big guys can easily find a woman to date, but a large woman is not so appealing to the majority of men. Unfortunate but true.

I don’t see Sean Jean or Roca getting rid of the 6X’s shirts they make, when surely they cost more to make as well. And the price trickles down to the consumer anyway. There is a $2.00- $3.00 price difference between a large and 1X sized shirt.

It seems like overweight is a sin, yet underweight is overlooked. Both are equally unhealthy, are they not? And WHY, aren’t the people wearing a size zero, and underweight not forced to move up to a size two thru six, by banning their clothes size?

Enough already…
