  • Working on me, is not in vain…

    te·na·cious tuesday…

Later on in my bookstore visit the other day, I sat down to skim a few books I didn’t want to purchase. But before that, I went to the checkout counter to ask where I would pick up a book that I reserved on line.
The cashier, a middle- aged woman, said in the back at Customer Service. Mind you, I’d just come from that desk when the employee ignored me( Face to face or over the phone). When I [...]

  • Face to face, or over the phone…

    messy monday…

While I was in search of a book at my local book store, I waited on the customer service desk rep to assist me with the online reservation I’d made earlier that day. I only wanted to pick the book up and maybe be directed to the section so I could browse like topics before I left.
The store clerk was assisting a customer over the phone. She placed the caller on hold saying “One moment, I’ll go and look.” [...]

  • Dum, dum, duuduummm…..

    wtf friday…

Mr. Football is an ex that keeps in touch for various reasons. One reason, he’s a decent guy at heart, good friend to his homies of course, and an excellent father. In our few and far between conversations, we discuss or text about if each others in a relationship, how families are doing, and whatever other news worthy information we decide to share.
Mr. Football is a person who taught me a lot about love, games, behavior and rules. He’s [...]

  • does the best friend always win…

    thought thursday…

When we were 9 and 10 years old it didn’t matter what sex your best friend was. It was the person who lived closest to you, the person who was outside at the same time you were allowed out, or the person who had the same metal strawberry shortcake lunch box as you.
As we get older, we aren’t playing outside as much. Our best friend becomes a person who is available to go to the bar when you need [...]

  • Who creates your style…

    wardrobe wednesday…

When a different season approaches, do you listen to what the style guru’s such as Carolina Herrera, Oscar Del La Renta,  and Michael Kors have to say? Do you base your mall purchases on pics seen in magazines? Or do you choose your own style, so to speak?
Do you wear scarves because Jay -Z and Lil Wayne made it ok, or did you have a collection of them before hand.  Are you shaving one half of your head because [...]

  • How many times do you pay for the crime…

    te·na·cious tuesday…

As a true Atlanta Falcon fan, and in an attempt to stay stay calm as the football season approaches, my friends and I discuss how wonderful a Mike Vick Comeback story would be.  We all know what he did was not right, but why is he paying for the same crime over, and over, and over again. I’d like to share the opinion of  another blogger.

What does killing dogs have to do with football?
Corporate icon Martha Stewart was convicted [...]

  • What message are you sending…

    messy monday…

Please forgive me for harping on a subject but I must. I am totally taken aback with women (all that claim to be), and the songs they choose to sing, or blare from their car speakers. I was in Atlanta’s Lucky Lounge last Saturday night and DJ Cowboy was on the one’s and two’s. (Never really understood that phrase, but I know he was playing the music)
He mixed it up, which is always a plus for me. I don’t [...]

  • What are you listening to…

    wtf friday…

CDs and LPs 4Sale!, originally uploaded by phluids.
Really I get it. First, if someone wasn’t buying this music then the artists wouldn’t compete to make an even more silly song than their last. We are responsible not the artist. Everyone is trying to get it, blah, blah, blah…
    (Listen to this parental statement)
Music used to mean something! (Can’t believe, this is where I am)
Even the songs that were crooned in an explicit manner or mentioned illegal actions tried to camouflage [...]

  • Do You Remember When…

    thought thursday…

Old Man Thinketh, originally uploaded by Shavar Ross.
Turning into your parents is the first sign of getting older. When you realize your turning down the radio to see better, saying “these kids”, or missing the old days- you’ve officially started your journey.
In one of my many getting older moments, I was listening to the radio, at the (what I like to call foolishness) crap they call music on the radio. I find myself telling my niece and nephews what [...]

  • Is your hair addicted to the creamy crack? (pt2)

    wardrobe wednesday…

Merry Christmas Little Girl in Pink with Beautiful Hair Braids, originally uploaded by Pink Sherbet Photography.
On a continuous struggle to convince myself not to perm my hair again, I conclude that the creamy crack is truly addictive. And I didn’t wake up and decide to embrace my inner black woman. No, I was weaving it up! I was a red head then I went blonde.

The blonde looked nice on my complextion and I lightened it a little more. Peroxide [...]
