Turning into your parents is the first sign of getting older. When you realize your turning down the radio to see better, saying “these kids”, or missing the old days- you’ve officially started your journey.
In one of my many getting older moments, I was listening to the radio, at the (what I like to call foolishness) crap they call music on the radio. I find myself telling my niece and nephews what a real punishment should be and sharing stories of “when I was a kid…”
I get in the car sometimes, and can’t remember the act of locking my front door, so I have to get out and check it- because it will haunt me all day if I don’t. I start watching one program on TV, channel surf on commercials, then forget to return to my original programming.
I have to laugh when I catch myself doing these things, and try to mentally store them, realizing they will make for great stories that we all cherish and re-tell from the generations past. I look forward to the day when I, like my mother, will hold the TV remote to my ear to answer instead of the phone…

i catch my self in older moments everyday. smh * shakes fist at father time *
